Message Team,

It's been quite some time since I've been on the forum but I could use some help.

In November I installed expansion downpipes and test pipes, about 3 weeks later the car began to smoke. I immediately assumed that the turbo oil seals had failed due to low back pressure, but now I'm not entirely certain. I'm hoping someone smarter than me may have some insight.

So I've already replaced the turbos and am getting ready to re-install the engine. I noticed upon dis assembly that I really didn't find much standing oil on the exhaust side of the turbo but rather the intake side. I thought that it was coming from the turbo seal but after further inspection it appears to be coming from the PCV tubes of the intake valve covers into the turbo inlet intake tube.

Okay so when exactly did the car smoke:
1: Warm / Hot Engine
2: Under full vacuum / deceleration
3: Light throttle in low gear (Still a high vacuum state)

No smoke under boost or moderate vacuum in high gear. (IE cruising at 70-80 MPH.

So I know that the PCV system uses these tubes to continue ventilation under vacuum and the PCV valves are used under boost.

So my concern is rings and stem seals, or perhaps the turbo oil seal problem can cause this somehow. Any thoughts?

Iridium V
